About the position

The Director of Human Resources at Salisbury School is responsible for overseeing all aspects of Human Resource operations, including recruitment, compensation, payroll, benefits, employee relations, and compliance. Reporting to the Chief Financial and Operating Officer, this role involves strategic direction and implementation of HR programs that align with the institution's mission and values. The position is full-time, exempt, and offers a comprehensive benefits package.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, and direct all aspects of human resources management to ensure compliance with School policies and state and federal law.
  • Facilitate employee relations matters including coaching, problem solving, and overseeing the performance management process.
  • Coordinate and provide recommendations on compensation for new hires and annual increases in conjunction with CFOO and Associate Head of School.
  • Collaborate on the design of and administer the School's performance management program; train faculty and staff in coaching and feedback techniques.
  • Develop and interpret policies and oversee the School's Policies & Procedures Manual.
  • Manage benefit administration including design, evaluation, negotiation with service providers, and budget management.
  • Ensure compliance with ERISA and fiduciary duties related to the 403(b) plan.
  • Handle all areas of compliance related to Human Resources, including Immigration, ADA, COBRA, FMLA, and others.
  • Oversee new hire onboarding process and enroll new hires into appropriate benefits plans.
  • Manage the recruitment process and assist department heads with recruiting efforts.
  • Manage time off programs including FMLA and disability.
  • Prepare, report, and file all employee injury reports and manage workers' compensation leave.
  • Conduct all background checks and oversee the State of CT Public Service License random drug screening program.
  • Conduct all exit interviews.

Requirements

  • BA/BS Degree required; Master's Degree or SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP preferred.
  • Ten (10) years of related experience preferably in an educational setting.
  • Extensive knowledge of principles, best practices, and procedures of human resource management.
  • Strong analytical, management, problem solving, and organizational planning skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
