About the position

The Director of Human Resources at SPIE is a senior-level position responsible for leading and executing a comprehensive range of HR functions to support the organization's mission of advancing light-based research and technology. This role involves strategic development, policy implementation, and management of HR activities, ensuring compliance and fostering a collaborative and inclusive workplace culture.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and execution of HR functions including policy, processes, management, and staff support.
  • Implement and administer all HR activities such as recruitment, compensation and benefits, employee relations, performance management, and training.
  • Partner with C-suite, Directors, and Board Committees to develop short and long-term HR plans that align with SPIE's business goals.
  • Manage a high volume of HR tasks independently while driving SPIE culture and ensuring compliance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience) required.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience covering the full range of human resources activities, with at least five years in a leadership capacity.
  • Minimum of 5 years of supervisory experience required.
  • SPHR or SHRM-SCP certification required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Minimum of 5 years of payroll experience preferred.
