About the position

The Director of IDC at Gilbane Building Company is responsible for overseeing the Interdisciplinary Document Coordination (IDC) function across the company. This role emphasizes the importance of developing strong relationships with design partners before construction begins, ensuring thorough analysis of construction documents to identify issues and enhance quality assurance processes. The position requires strong leadership, communication skills, and the ability to manage complex projects effectively while fostering a collaborative team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the highest tier of IDC staff represented in each Business Unit, along with the local Business Unit reporting manager.
  • Supervise the annual revision of the IDC Policies and Procedures Manual.
  • Lead and maintain accountability for Weekly National Workload and Staff meetings, balancing resources and workload.
  • Approve fee proposals for issuance to operations and customers.
  • Coordinate with Corporate Management.
  • Update and maintain risk mitigation language with Corporate Legal.
  • Oversee the performance review process and leadership competency development of senior IDC staff.
  • Execute monthly status reporting to the Office of the Chairman and to the Regional Managers' peer group.
  • Supervise Business Unit IDC Marketing and business development.
  • Develop and implement national strategic planning in regard to IDC Forecast department growth.
  • Manage and plan budgets for software licenses and software/hardware upgrades.
  • Remove obstacles from workflow, activities of direct reports, and impediments to streamlining to maximize efficiency.
  • Participate in the Doer-Seller initiative.
  • Participate in external organizations or maintain certifications.
  • Participate or lead the IDC peer group.
  • Participate in Business Unit management meetings.
  • Serve as a Lesson Learned subject matter expert.

Requirements

  • BS in Engineering or Construction Management
  • 10 years of relevant experience
  • 5 years of managerial experience
  • 5 years of marketing and business development experience
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience
