About the position

The County of Fresno is offering a rewarding and challenging career opportunity to an experienced information technology professional with strong communication and leadership skills interested in a position as the Director of Information Technology / Chief Information Officer. This is a key leadership role for someone passionate about driving innovation and making a meaningful impact in a dynamic organization. The Information Technology Department provides centralized information technology services. These services include system acquisition, design, development, operation and maintenance; implementation, operation, maintenance, and security of the countywide network and associated global applications; installation and maintenance of client/server devices such as computers and servers; and training and support for end users of client/server-based office application suites. The Director of Information Technology / Chief Information Officer, reporting to the County Administrative Officer, formulates strategic objectives and policies that carry out the mission of the Department and provides administrative direction to department managers regarding the operations of their respective divisions.

Responsibilities

  • Formulate strategic objectives and policies for the Information Technology Department.
  • Provide administrative direction to department managers regarding operations.
  • Oversee system acquisition, design, development, operation, and maintenance.
  • Ensure the security and maintenance of the countywide network and global applications.
  • Manage installation and maintenance of client/server devices.
  • Provide training and support for end users of office application suites.

Requirements

  • Possession of a bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a closely related field.
  • Five (5) years of full-time, paid managerial work experience in information technology.
  • Supervision of information technology staff in a comprehensive, full-service IT facility.
  • Possession of a valid Class 'C' driver's license or equivalent may be required.
  • Must obtain and maintain FBI and DOJ clearance as a condition of employment.
