About the position

The Director of Institutional Research & University Assessment leads the collection, analysis, and dissemination of university data to support the university's strategic plan. This role serves as the central source for institutional data and reporting requests, producing regular reports for both internal and external stakeholders. The director collaborates with administrators to refine benchmarks and assessment tools, ensuring progress towards strategic goals is documented effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Collect, organize, analyze, interpret, and report internal data.
  • Develop procedural standards for consistency in gathering and maintaining institutional data.
  • Organize and archive data accurately, ensuring timely updates.
  • Produce the university Fact Book twice each year.
  • Coordinate submission of various reports including SUNY, IPEDS, MSCHE, and HEDS.
  • Assist in prioritizing and completing external market surveys such as U.S. News and World Report.
  • Perform external marketing surveys and analysis to support university initiatives.
  • Instruct and assist administrators, faculty, and staff in research design methodology and data analysis.
  • Refine quantitative benchmarks for measuring success towards university goals.
  • Develop and implement assessment tools and track university assessment results.
  • Serve as a member of the Executive Council.
  • Contribute effectively to team projects and support decision-making with relevant data and analysis.
  • Maintain a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, supporting all faculty, staff, and students.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in an appropriate academic discipline with an emphasis on quantitative research methods and statistics.
  • At least five years of experience in higher education.
  • Experience in data collection, analysis, interpretation, and database management.
  • Knowledge of Banner required; knowledge of Slate, Navigate, DegreeWorks is a plus.
