About the position

The Director of IT Operations is responsible for leading and managing the organization's IT infrastructure, ensuring operational effectiveness and security. This role requires strong IT leadership skills, hands-on experience in key areas such as cybersecurity and network administration, and the ability to integrate systems and processes, particularly in post-merger environments. The director will oversee a team, manage vendor relationships, and ensure that IT services align with business objectives while promoting a collaborative culture within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Build a collaborative culture within the team, department, and across the company.
  • Analyze complex business requirements and make recommendations for technical solutions.
  • Ensure a stable and functional computing environment for office and remote employees.
  • Assess the effectiveness of the existing network, software/applications, and IT services.
  • Oversee the entire network and system infrastructure ensuring proper configuration and security.
  • Manage a help desk team, system administrator, and technicians.
  • Create and implement IT policies and procedures based on an ITIL framework.
  • Explore innovative technologies and oversee the architecture and implementation of ongoing support.
  • Provide advice on suitable technologies for various projects.
  • Manage vendor relationships for technologies and services.
  • Enhance and maintain the security architecture and ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Responsible for business continuity and disaster recovery strategies.
  • Mentor and coach the operations team, promoting their professional growth.
  • Build an environment of trust and safety for problem-solving.
  • Manage departmental sub-functions and oversee project deliverables.
  • Analyze and enhance current practices to improve efficiencies and reduce costs.
  • Establish operational and capital budgets for the IT department.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a computer-related field or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years leading an IT organization in a manager or director role.
  • Minimum of 3 years providing direct Windows system, networking, security, or similar technical administration.
  • Minimum 3 years project management experience using both waterfall and agile methods.
  • Intermediate to Expert level in Cybersecurity, Active Directory/Azure, Networking, Help Desk/Service Management processes and tools.
  • Experience working within or implementing ITIL practices.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working with a finance organization and within the construction industry.
  • Experience leading or directly working on Trimble Vista ERP or other ERP systems.
  • Data warehouse, analytics, AI experience.
