About the position

The Director of IT Project Management Office (PMO) is responsible for leading and managing the IT PMO to ensure the successful delivery of high-priority projects that align with the organization's goals. This strategic leadership role requires a deep understanding of technology business processes and the ability to coach and develop a high-performing team while fostering a culture of excellence within the IT department.

Responsibilities

  • Build, coach, and mentor a high-performing team of project managers, business analysts, and solution specialists.
  • Facilitate, oversee, and enhance the execution of high-priority projects within the IT department.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather and translate business requirements into detailed project specifications.
  • Develop a deep understanding of the business, its goals, and operations to align IT projects with strategic objectives.
  • Develop and manage project budgets, ensuring effective allocation of resources and tracking expenditures.
  • Serve as both a technological and business expert to ensure IT strategies align with organizational goals.
  • Foster a process-driven and transparent culture within the IT department.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive organizational change and optimize business platforms.
  • Partner with the Senior Vice President of IT to develop and refine the organizational technological roadmap.
  • Lead the implementation and success of high-priority projects across the organization.
  • Identify and produce efficient solutions for system integration, maintenance, migration, and architecture.
  • Ensure adherence to the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) processes and support strategic DevOps practices.
  • Identify project risks and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Maintain open lines of communication with project stakeholders, providing regular updates on project status.
  • Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including project plans and status reports.
  • Stay abreast of technological advancements to leverage innovative business solutions.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 8-10 years of progressive experience in IT project management.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, coach, and develop a high-performing team.
  • Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of IT project management methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, etc.).
  • Proven experience in developing and managing project budgets and resource allocation.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across departments and with external partners.
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field is required.

Nice-to-haves

  • A Master's degree or relevant certifications (e.g., PMP, PgMP, ITIL) is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of change management principles.
  • Commitment to staying current with industry trends and best practices.
