About the position

The Director of Laboratory Operations & Systems Implementation will lead the establishment and management of a new diagnostic testing laboratory in Houston, TX. This role involves overseeing operational workflows, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, managing inventory, and driving continuous improvement initiatives to enhance lab efficiency and service quality.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and enforce operational workflows and systems for lab efficiency from startup to full-scale clinical operations post-CLIA certification and CAP accreditation.
  • Oversee the procurement of materials and manufacturing of reagents, ensuring the lab is equipped with necessary supplies.
  • Implement a robust inventory management system to track and maintain optimal stock levels.
  • Guarantee compliance with CLIA and other regulatory standards, establishing and maintaining quality control processes.
  • Ensure all test data is accurately recorded, stored, and protected in accordance with regulatory requirements.
  • Act as the primary point of resolution for operational, technical, or customer service-related issues.
  • Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor operational efficiency and lead continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

  • Advanced degree in chemical, physical, or biological sciences or a related field; PhD preferred.
  • At least 7 years of hands-on experience in laboratory operations, with extensive knowledge in setting up labs and achieving CLIA certification.
  • Demonstrated ability in managing laboratory inventory and ensuring seamless operation of lab processes.
  • Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to inspire a team and manage cross-functional projects.
  • Strong analytical capabilities and a proactive approach to problem-solving, focusing on operational efficiency and quality improvement.
  • In-depth understanding of CLIA and other relevant regulatory requirements.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary range of $180,000 - $220,000 based on experience and qualifications.
