About the position

The Director of Leisure Sales at The Ritz-Carlton, Bachelor Gulch and The Ritz-Carlton, Lake Tahoe is responsible for leading and managing all day-to-day activities related to the sales function. This role focuses on building long-term, value-based customer relationships that enable the achievement of property sales objectives. The Director will provide support for sales activities for larger, more complex accounts, monitor and manage team booking goals, and make recommendations on the booking goals of direct reports. The position also involves creating opportunities to grow the account base through customer interactions, ensuring that the sales strategy is effectively implemented, and maximizing revenue potential through positive leadership and personal booking goals. In this role, the Director will work closely with the sales team to create and implement a comprehensive sales plan that addresses revenue, customers, and market segments. They will assist in the development and implementation of promotions, both internal and external, and will be responsible for monitoring all day-to-day activities of direct reports. The Director will also participate in sales calls to acquire new business and execute operational aspects of business booked, such as generating proposals and writing contracts. Additionally, the Director will analyze market information using sales systems to implement strategies that achieve the property's financial goals. They will develop and manage relationships with key stakeholders, attend customer events and trade shows, and interact with guests to obtain feedback on product quality and service levels. The role also includes conducting human resource activities, such as interviewing and hiring employees, providing training, and empowering staff to deliver excellent customer service. The Director will ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and uphold the brand's Customer Service Standards and property Brand Standards.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage all day-to-day activities related to the sales function.
  • Build long-term, value-based customer relationships to achieve property sales objectives.
  • Support sales activities for larger, more complex accounts.
  • Monitor and manage team booking goals and make recommendations on booking goals of direct reports.
  • Create opportunities to grow the account base through customer interactions.
  • Work with sales leader to ensure understanding of sales strategy and effective implementation.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of promotions, both internal and external.
  • Provide positive and aggressive leadership to ensure maximum revenue potential.
  • Recommend booking goals for sales team members.
  • Monitor all day-to-day activities of direct reports.
  • Approve space release for catering to maximize revenue in the absence of a Business Evaluation Manager.
  • Participate in sales calls with members of the sales team to acquire new business and/or close on business.
  • Execute and support the operational aspects of business booked, including generating proposals and writing contracts.
  • Analyze market information and implement strategy to achieve financial goals.
  • Assist Revenue Management with completing accurate six period projections.
  • Review guest satisfaction results to identify areas of improvement.
  • Develop and manage relationships with key stakeholders, both internal and external.
  • Attend customer events, trade shows, and sales missions to maintain and build key relationships.
  • Interact with guests to obtain feedback on product quality and service levels.
  • Conduct interviews and hire management and hourly employees with appropriate skills.
  • Utilize on-the-job training tools for employees and empower them to provide excellent customer service.

Requirements

  • 2-year degree from an accredited university in Business Administration, Marketing, Hotel and Restaurant Management, or related major with 8 years of experience in sales and marketing or related professional area.
  • OR a 4-year bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Hotel and Restaurant Management, or related major with 6 years of experience in sales and marketing or related professional area.
