About the position

The Director of Logistics at Kaya Cannabis is responsible for overseeing the entire post-harvest process within a medium-sized vertically integrated cannabis company. This role involves managing the logistics team, ensuring quality control, and maintaining compliance with state and local regulations. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, project management experience, and a passion for the cannabis industry, particularly in post-production processes.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the successful and timely completion of regular and fresh frozen harvests at both cultivation facilities.
  • Ensure harvest deadlines are met while upholding strict quality control standards.
  • Collaborate with the cultivation team to oversee the drying process at both cultivation facilities.
  • Monitor the bucking and curing processes to achieve optimal moisture content.
  • Oversee the trim process and monitor production rates and quality standards.
  • Manage the storage, organization, transportation, tracking, labeling, and allocation of all product batches and packages.
  • Direct the potency and contaminant sampling and testing protocol for both cultivation facilities.
  • Maintain the supply chain schedule and ensure adequate staffing to meet production schedules.
  • Communicate with other departments about batch quantities and availability.
  • Collaborate with the Inventory Manager to oversee packaging and ensure retail orders are fulfilled.
  • Ensure compliance with state and local laws and regulations at both facilities.
  • Manage the Logistics Team, including hiring, training, and scheduling.
  • Conduct reviews and disciplinary actions as needed.
  • Oversee the timely execution of all day-to-day logistics operations.

Requirements

  • Familiarity with the Cannabis Industry, specifically in the area of post-production.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to multitask and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication, time management, planning, and organizational skills.
  • Proven ability to be a team player who can manage and motivate team members.
  • Ability to work in a startup-like environment with limited resources.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, inventory tracking systems like METRC, and employee scheduling software.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a leadership role within the cannabis industry.
  • Knowledge of compliance regulations and quality control standards in cannabis production.
