About the position

The Director of Major Gifts and Planned Giving at Morgan's Inclusion Initiative is a key fundraising role responsible for managing relationships with high-capacity donors and developing strategies to secure significant philanthropic investments. This position focuses on cultivating partnerships with individuals, corporations, and community entities to support the organization's mission and goals. The Director will work closely with the Chief Development Officer and other leadership to enhance fundraising efforts and ensure effective donor engagement and stewardship.

Responsibilities

  • Manage qualifications, cultivation, solicitation, acknowledgment, recognition, and stewardship for a portfolio of prospects and donors.
  • Develop and implement strategies to support high-level fundraising with corporate and community partners.
  • Cultivate relationships with high-capacity individual and planned giving prospects, managing a portfolio of approximately 100 major gift and planned giving prospects.
  • Oversee and cultivate corporate sponsorships and community partnerships.
  • Personally manage and solicit major and planned giving prospects, designing and implementing effective strategies for cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
  • Serve as a spokesperson and representative for Morgan's, participating in cultivation and stewardship events.
  • Maintain knowledge of trends in major and planned giving, providing outstanding service to all prospects and donors.
  • Build and manage a network of relationships with prospective major and planned gift donors.
  • Assist in creating persuasive communications and strategies tailored to donor interests.
  • Participate in solicitations to fund Morgan's programs and strengthen its development efforts.

Requirements

  • 3 to 5 years of experience in development or fundraising in the nonprofit sector.
  • Experience managing a portfolio of high-capacity donors and direct relationship management with major gift and planned giving donors.
  • Demonstrated success in securing gifts of $25,000+ from existing and prospective donors.
  • Proficiency in donor moves management and creating donor strategies utilizing best practices.
  • Familiarity with various fundraising programs, including annual giving, major gifts, planned giving, and corporate sponsorships.
  • Strong knowledge of major funding sources, including foundations, corporations, and high-net-worth individuals.
  • Excellent written and oral communication, public speaking, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in human services, social services, business, or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in donor management software, particularly Altru and Raiser's Edge, or ability to gain proficiency within 60 days of hire.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite.
