About the position

The Director of Manufacturing is responsible for overseeing production operations within an Industrial Machinery and Equipment Manufacturing facility. This role involves managing subordinate managers to ensure that production goals are met in terms of quality, cost, and time. The Director will monitor performance, implement corrective actions as necessary, and promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Supervises the Manufacturing operations throughout the organization by working through respective leaders.
• Manages people resources to meet production schedule demands and assists subordinate managers with identifying and resolving challenges.
• Promotes safety on an ongoing basis to assure awareness and compliance.
• Leads strategies and processes designed to ensure material cost objectives are achieved.
• Produces high quality products through compliance with corporate quality processes and by actively participating in and promoting continuous improvement through lean activities.
• Identifies opportunities to make significant gains in product quality and productivity through changes in production processes, people processes, and manufacturing systems.
• Directs the acquisition of production-related equipment and oversees the operator's preventive maintenance program for production areas.
• Manages budget and expenditures as approved by the President.

Requirements

• Prefer a four-year degree (B.A. or B.S.)
• At least five years previous management experience in a custom production environment.
• Strong mathematical skills including logarithms, exponents, and simple statistics.
