About the position

The Director of Marketing & Advertising at Morris Furniture Company is a pivotal role responsible for developing and executing the overall marketing strategy that aligns with the company's mission of 'Making Homes Great.' This position requires a strong leader who can drive marketing activities across all product lines, ensuring that strategic and tactical plans are established and implemented effectively. The Director will oversee the creative strategy and development of all marketing communications, ensuring consistency in messaging across various platforms and adherence to brand standards. This includes utilizing a mix of traditional and non-traditional advertising mediums such as TV, online video, radio, print, social media, and more to drive traffic into showrooms and enhance the customer journey. In addition to strategic oversight, the Director will mentor and lead an internal team, fostering a positive and productive work environment. This role involves collaborating with executive leadership to align marketing strategies with company goals, developing quarterly ad calendars, and coordinating special events to attract prospects and past clients. The Director will also be responsible for managing agency partners, ensuring that advertising deadlines are met, budgets are adhered to, and sales goals are achieved. The position requires a focus on measurable results, driving business growth, and optimizing marketing spending through effective budget management. The Director will work closely with Sales and Merchandising teams to develop impactful campaigns and ensure timely completion of multiple projects, including ads, signage, and web graphics. This role is essential in maintaining the Morris Home brand across various platforms and coordinating impactful sale campaigns across TV, web, and print. The Director will also oversee the creation and review of marketing materials, including TV spots and product photography, to ensure they meet the company's standards and objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Develop the overall marketing strategy, including promotions, media, and content production.
  • Create tools for revenue generation and improve efficiencies in marketing activities.
  • Establish and implement strategic and tactical plans for all product lines.
  • Mentor and lead the internal marketing team to achieve their potential.
  • Oversee the creative strategy and development of all marketing communications.
  • Utilize various advertising mediums to drive traffic into showrooms and websites.
  • Direct the work of the Advertising Department and provide creative support to managers.
  • Meet advertising deadlines and adhere to budget requirements.
  • Supervise day-to-day management of agency partners to ensure goals are met.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership to align marketing strategies with company goals.
  • Develop quarterly ad calendars in partnership with key leaders and vendors.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of marketing campaigns with agency partners.
  • Enhance the customer journey and improve conversion rates through innovative marketing ideas.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Telecommunications, or a relevant field preferred.
  • At least 7-10 years of experience in marketing, focusing on strategic planning and execution.
  • Proven track record of leading and managing marketing teams.
  • Experience in the retail sector is highly beneficial.
  • Strong skills in overseeing creative processes and ensuring brand consistency.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in analyzing marketing data and metrics to drive decision-making.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
