About the position

The Director of Marketing and Brand Management is responsible for leading the marketing department and overseeing the overall brand management program for the Grapevine Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB). This role involves identifying market opportunities and developing both short and long-term marketing strategies aimed at attracting overnight and day visitor business from the convention and leisure markets. The Director will set and guide the overall communications strategy for public relations initiatives and the CVB's messaging. A key aspect of this position is the utilization of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to drive marketing strategies, which includes advertising, research, website direction, electronic and database marketing, and special promotions. In collaboration with team members, the Director will create and implement a comprehensive marketing program that enhances the Grapevine CVB's position within the meetings and leisure travel market segments. This includes ensuring that all marketing campaigns, collateral, and outreach are integrated and strategic, supporting the mission and goals of the Grapevine CVB marketing plan objectives. The Director will also ensure adherence to brand standards and effective resource expenditures. The role requires the creation and management of multi-channel campaigns in partnership with agency partners, stakeholders, and community organizations, including hotels, attractions, and restaurants. The Director will direct the development of domestic and international marketing initiatives, including campaigns and advertising designed to generate convention and meeting attendee and leisure visitor room nights booked in Grapevine. Additionally, the Director will oversee the production of various marketing materials and maintain the Grapevine CVB website, ensuring strategic messaging and content innovation. The Director will also be responsible for developing and executing the annual marketing budget, supervising and evaluating assigned staff, and maintaining accurate statistics and ROI of marketing programs. Monitoring industry trends and local issues impacting the CVB organization and destination marketing work is also a critical function of this role. Regular attendance and the ability to operate within the local government arena and political climate are essential for success in this position.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing or business administration.
  • Minimum of five years of marketing experience in a large convention bureau or related travel industry organization.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, including public speaking and presentation skills.
  • Knowledge of destination industry best practices for incorporating AI in marketing strategies.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to cultivate relationships with stakeholders and officials.
  • Ability to collaborate with other departments for effective campaigns.
  • Self-reliant, good problem solver, and results-oriented with attention to detail.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel, and familiar with CRM/CMS platforms.
  • Good knowledge of budget management practices.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to lead and streamline processes for managing multiple projects.
