About the position

The Director of Marketing and Communications at the Bureau of Business and Economic Research (BBER) is responsible for organizing and directing the marketing operations of the Bureau. This role involves crafting and implementing marketing strategies to enhance BBER's visibility and effectiveness as a leading business research center. The Director collaborates with leadership and staff to create messaging for various research products and represents BBER in multiple venues. Additionally, the position oversees the production of print and online publications, manages content for the Bureau's websites, and maintains social media channels.

Responsibilities

  • Organize and direct the marketing operations of the Bureau of Business and Economic Research (BBER).
  • Craft and implement marketing strategies to enhance BBER's visibility and effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with leadership and staff to create messaging for research products.
  • Oversee the production of print and online publications.
  • Manage content for the BBER's websites and ensure quality control through copyediting and proofreading.
  • Serve as managing editor of the Montana Business Quarterly (MBQ).
  • Work with the Event Planning Contractor to ensure successful public events.
  • Maintain databases associated with BBER events and publications.
  • Act as the point of contact between BBER and media organizations, creating press releases and maintaining media contacts.
  • Manage BBER's social media channels.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or related field.
  • Three years of related work experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in the communication of research and media management.
  • Broad knowledge of business and the Montana economy.
  • Working knowledge of Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Excel, PowerPoint, and other media production software.
  • Knowledge of web and graphic design programs, including content management platforms.
  • Substantial professional experience in marketing and communications.
  • Proficiency in communicating research findings clearly and engagingly.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with written and verbal communication, social media, and Adobe Creative Suite packages.
  • Sound project management skills and ability to work independently and collaboratively.

  • Experience in managing a team or leading projects.
  • Familiarity with the Montana business landscape and economy.
