About the position

The Director of Marketing and Communications (DMC) at Hudson Valley Shakespeare (HVS) is a senior leadership role responsible for advancing the organization's mission through strategic marketing and communications initiatives. The DMC will work closely with the Artistic and Managing Directors to enhance HVS's brand, engage audiences, and promote the new Samuel H. Scripps Theater Center as a cultural destination. This position involves overseeing marketing campaigns, audience development, and public relations to increase awareness and excitement about HVS's offerings, while also managing a small team during the production season.

Responsibilities

  • Craft a multi-channel marketing strategy that builds year-round relationships with constituents.
  • Plan, develop, and execute an annual marketing plan that celebrates HVS's brand and encompasses seasonal productions.
  • Oversee HVS's relationship with press representation to ensure comprehensive media coverage.
  • Develop promotional partnerships and advertising deals throughout the region.
  • Analyze audience and marketing research to assess engagement and develop audience development strategies.
  • Oversee all audience development campaigns across various media.
  • Create and publish social media and blog content, and conceive digital collaborations.
  • Plan and execute strategic promotional events and photo/video shoots.
  • Hire and manage the Box Office Manager and Audience Services Manager to enhance visitor experience.
  • Collaborate with leadership on public communications and audience development strategies.

Requirements

  • Proven experience leading a marketing team and directing campaigns.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, budgeting, and financial management skills.
  • Knowledge of the Hudson Valley and familiarity with local press distribution.
  • Excellent organizational, written/oral communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in theater and/or multi-arts marketing planning is a plus.

  • Familiarity with Ticketing/Donation Platforms and Project Management Platforms.
  • Experience in creating and managing marketing budgets.
