About the position

The Director of Marketing and Communications at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and School is responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive marketing and communication strategies to enhance the visibility and impact of the parish's mission, ministries, programs, and events. This role involves creating compelling content and managing both digital and print communications to effectively engage the community.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate, develop, and implement marketing and communications strategies in collaboration with the Pastor and parish leadership.
  • Direct the production and publication of parish communications, including the bulletin and weekly electronic newsletter.
  • Manage the design, implementation, and maintenance of the parish and school website.
  • Design and prepare printed and digital marketing materials to support parish and school programs; manage social media content.
  • Develop and streamline communications plans for events and programs to achieve desired results.
  • Maintain all outdoor signage with current and relevant messaging.
  • Support programs/ministries/events with photography and video recording as needed.
  • Maintain and update the Parish Branding and Style Guide as needed.
  • Manage vendor relationships including printers and merchandise providers.
  • Prepare press releases and other forms of publicity for external parish sources.
  • Coordinate external media relations for special occasions.

Requirements

  • Ability to effectively articulate the values and mission of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and School.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Understanding of computer and software skills including the Adobe software suite, video and audio recording, and Canva.
  • Ability to maintain clear, accurate records and prepare timely reports.
  • Highly self-directed with attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to balance multiple priorities in a complex environment.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Reasonable knowledge of Roman Catholic doctrine, practices, and procedures.
  • Successfully completed background check and VIRTUS training.
