About the position

Baystate Health is seeking a dynamic and visionary Director of Marketing and Consumer Engagement to lead our marketing initiatives and enhance consumer engagement across our hospital system. This pivotal role involves shaping our brand identity, driving strategic marketing campaigns, and fostering meaningful connections with our community. The ideal candidate will leverage creativity, strategic thinking, and expertise in consumer engagement to drive growth and enhance the patient experience. As a leader in this role, you will be responsible for managing the marketing, digital strategy, and consumer engagement needs for the system and its hospitals, addressing service growth and engagement through comprehensive strategic plans and initiatives. In this highly visible position, you will work collaboratively with service leadership, establishing a knowledgeable service response for the organization, mentoring and leading teams, and collaborating with peers across the marketing and communications department. The Marketing and Consumer Engagement team includes marketing strategy, creative services, social media/digital/web services, and the membership/loyalty program. You will guide and support the team in continuously improving quality and efficiency of services, monitoring and assessing outcomes against KPIs, and removing obstacles to performance. Your responsibilities will include developing a consumer marketing and engagement program that promotes Baystate Health's brand identity as a leader in high-quality, accessible healthcare in Western Massachusetts. You will also be responsible for creating and managing budgets and timelines, ensuring all initiatives meet quality, brand, time, and budget guidelines. The role requires a strong understanding of marketing and digital strategy principles, including website development, content development, and social media engagement. You will be expected to stay informed of market trends and provide strategic guidance to system leaders and stakeholders, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and needs. This position reports to the Vice President of Marketing and Communications and is integral to the Marketing and Communications leadership team.

Responsibilities

  • Lead marketing initiatives and enhance consumer engagement across the hospital system.
  • Shape brand identity and drive strategic marketing campaigns.
  • Foster meaningful connections with the community.
  • Manage marketing, digital strategy, and consumer engagement needs for the system and its hospitals.
  • Develop and execute comprehensive strategic plans and consumer engagement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with service leadership and establish knowledgeable service response for the organization.
  • Mentor and lead marketing and consumer engagement teams.
  • Monitor and assess outcomes against KPIs and remove obstacles to performance.
  • Create and manage budgets and timelines for marketing initiatives.
  • Ensure all marketing initiatives meet quality, brand, time, and budget guidelines.
  • Develop a consumer marketing and engagement program that promotes Baystate Health's brand identity.
  • Provide strategic and creative guidance to system leaders and stakeholders.
  • Stay informed of market trends and provide recommendations for marketing strategies.
  • Oversee development, production, distribution, and evaluation of marketing deliverables.
  • Ensure compliance with established policies and procedures for marketing and digital materials.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in strategic marketing, including planning and project management experience.
  • 3 to 5 years of direct staff supervision experience.
  • Experience working with healthcare systems or a large service industry is a plus.
  • Strong writing and editing skills with demonstrated proficiencies in multi-platform content development.
  • Ability to work in a highly complex, evolving, and multi-site organization.
  • Demonstrated judgment and discretion with confidential matters.
  • Ability to interact effectively with senior administrative and clinical leadership, physicians, and community members.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with project management applications and consumer research.
