About the position

The Director of Marketing and Digital Engagement at East Carolina University is responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive marketing strategy aimed at enhancing alumni engagement. This role involves leading marketing efforts, managing communications, and overseeing a team to ensure effective outreach to the alumni community. The position requires a data-driven approach to connect with alumni and promote the university's mission through various channels.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive alumni marketing strategy.
  • Lead marketing and communications efforts for the ECU Alumni Association.
  • Create marketing collateral including email campaigns, newsletters, and social media posts.
  • Manage benefits and services that enhance the alumni experience and generate revenue.
  • Update and maintain the ECU Alumni Association website, ensuring it is user-friendly and visually appealing.
  • Produce and maintain an annual marketing and communications calendar.
  • Implement best practices in alumni marketing and communications.
  • Utilize storytelling to share alumni success stories across multiple platforms.
  • Ensure consistency in branding and messaging for all alumni communications.
  • Collaborate with the Office of Annual Giving to develop a donor stewardship plan.
  • Oversee project workflows and coordinate marketing resources effectively.
  • Assist in managing the annual budget for marketing and communications.
  • Lead and motivate a team of direct reports.
  • Support alumni events and maintain relationships with campus partners.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, sales, marketing, or related field.
  • Minimum of five years of progressive experience in alumni relations, public relations, sales, or marketing.
  • At least three years of leadership experience in membership or affinity programs.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
