About the position

The Director of Marketing/Assistant Athletic Director of Marketing at Stony Brook University is responsible for developing and executing comprehensive marketing strategies for the athletics department. This role involves enhancing the Stony Brook Athletics brand through digital and social media initiatives, overseeing game-day experiences, and managing marketing budgets. The position also includes public relations responsibilities and corporate partnership stewardship, ensuring effective communication and engagement with fans and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Support the development and execution of a comprehensive marketing plan for all teams.
  • Implement a digital and social media plan to enhance the Stony Brook Athletics brand.
  • Oversee the execution of game-day experiences and fan engagement initiatives.
  • Lead the development and execution of marketing and creative content initiatives for 18 intercollegiate programs.
  • Coordinate game-day promotional activities and develop marketing plans to increase attendance and ticket revenue.
  • Manage a marketing budget and prepare budgetary recommendations.
  • Attend university and community events on behalf of the department and supervise spirit groups.
  • Ensure corporate partnerships are effectively integrated into game-day scripts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (foreign equivalent or higher).
  • Three (3) years of full-time experience in marketing for the Director role; Four (4) years for the Assistant Athletic Director role.
  • Supervisory experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Advanced degree (foreign equivalent or higher).
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite.
  • Experience with desktop publishing software.
  • Experience working in higher education.
  • Experience in collegiate and/or professional sports marketing.
  • Experience with social media platforms such as Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook.
  • Experience working with corporate partners for sponsorships.

Benefits

  • $3,400 UUP annual location pay, paid biweekly.
  • Full-time appointment with FLSA exempt status, not eligible for overtime provisions.
