About the position

The Director of Marketing & Commerce at Mandarin Oriental, New York is a strategic leadership role responsible for driving the hotel's marketing and sales initiatives. This position focuses on enhancing brand identity, implementing effective marketing strategies, and maximizing revenue through direct consumer and sales channels. The incumbent will oversee all marketing activities, including media relations, digital marketing, and consumer relationship management, while collaborating closely with the General Manager and Director of Revenue Strategy to align the hotel's vision and commercial strategy.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the creation and management of the brand identity for the hotel and all its outlets.
  • Develop an overall annual direct marketing plan and allocate the approved budget for ongoing marketing and communications activities.
  • Design and execute communication and direct consumer strategy to position the hotel as a top destination in local, national, and international media.
  • Manage the Hotel's Press Office, developing newsworthy storytelling and handling crisis communications.
  • Oversee the planning and implementation of the hotel's annual advertising plan in coordination with the MOHG advertising department.
  • Work with the global digital marketing team to execute paid social media and digital marketing campaigns.
  • Ensure up-to-date, brand-appropriate website copy and liaise with corporate and property colleagues for regular updates.
  • Maintain contact with guests and clients through direct marketing activities and oversee consumer events.
  • Develop strategic brand partnerships in the luxury, lifestyle, and arts sectors.
  • Guide communication and consumer marketing staff, ensuring their continuous development.
  • Develop, implement, monitor, and control sales strategies and goals in coordination with Regional Sales Offices and Marketing Teams.
  • Evaluate monthly segment production and conduct account reviews with the sales team.
  • Conduct weekly sales meetings and oversee daily group leads to monitor demand and provide conversion guidance.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 5 years in a marketing leadership position within luxury brands.
  • Experience in leading and managing sales teams in a similar positioning and size.
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to create objectives and make strategic decisions based on market trends.
  • Ability to train, manage, and develop direct reports for successful execution of sales and marketing efforts.
  • Exceptional leadership and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships.
  • Self-motivated, well-organized, and detail-oriented with the ability to multi-task.
  • Willingness to travel when required.

Benefits

  • Salary range of $215,000 - $229,000 plus bonus opportunities.
