About the position

The Director of Marketing at Pepper Construction is a pivotal role responsible for overseeing all marketing activities, staff, and resources dedicated to developing effective marketing strategies and initiatives that enhance the company's market position, drive sales, and increase market share. This position requires a high level of collaboration with the President, operational leaders, business development teams, and PR/Communication professionals, as well as marketing staff across various locations. The Director will lead the Marketing Team in creating differentiator-based strategies, proposals, qualifications packages, and presentation materials for all pursuits, ensuring that the essence of Pepper is captured in all marketing content. In this role, the Director will coach and direct the interview team during rehearsals, write compelling marketing content, and edit materials developed by others prior to publication. The Director will also manage the Marketing Team, fostering a client-first, service-oriented culture while continuously improving products and processes. Performance reviews and ongoing coaching will be part of the responsibilities, along with seeking opportunities to leverage content for broader purposes, such as contributing to the company website through PR/Communications. The Director will develop marketing plans and strategies for client communication that align with corporate strategy, collaborating closely with Communications and Business Development. This includes managing established targets and metrics, supporting Business Development efforts by leveraging the firm's expertise, and conducting research to prepare for upcoming opportunities. The role also involves attending relevant meetings and events to build relationships with key clients and collect valuable marketing intelligence. Additionally, the Director will support PR/Communications activities by developing collateral for market positioning, collaborating on awards submissions, and contributing content to the website and social media outlets. Financial responsibilities include developing annual marketing budgets, measuring performance metrics, and preparing forecasts and reports for Business Development and Marketing. The Director will work closely with operational areas to ensure that marketing performance metrics and budgets are tracked effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Lead preparations for interviews and presentations, coaching the interview team as necessary.
  • Write and edit marketing content that captures the essence of Pepper Construction.
  • Manage the Marketing Team, fostering a client-first, service-oriented culture.
  • Conduct formal performance reviews and ongoing coaching for the Marketing Team.
  • Leverage content developed for pursuits for broader purposes, such as contributing to the company website.
  • Manage the photography process and partner with PR/Communications for brand transition plans.
  • Develop marketing plans and strategies for client communication that align with corporate strategy.
  • Support Business Development efforts by leveraging the firm's expertise and industry knowledge.
  • Attend relevant meetings and events to build relationships with key clients.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and/or certification in marketing or related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years' experience in marketing, preferably in the Architecture/Engineering/Construction industry.
  • Ability to manage marketing pursuits with proactive planning and organized approaches.
  • Experience in pursuing complex projects and assembling teams.
  • Excellent project interviewing strategy skills and ability to present complex situations clearly.
  • Strong leadership, managerial, and mentoring skills.
  • Proficient with Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator) and Microsoft applications.
