About the position

The Director of Marketing & Communications at Kentucky Educational Television (KET) is responsible for increasing viewership and support for KET's programs and services through strategic marketing and communications efforts. This role involves leading the creation and execution of integrated marketing campaigns, managing a team, and ensuring alignment with the agency's brand messaging and marketing plan. The position requires a focus on continuous improvement and the use of both traditional and digital marketing tactics to effectively reach and engage audiences.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the creation and execution of marketing campaigns, including development of creative briefs, tactical plans, timelines, budgets, campaign creative, and delivery channels.
  • Direct the planning, research, messaging, design, and distribution of marketing campaigns across multiple channels, ensuring alignment with overall agency brand messaging.
  • Infuse a culture of continuous improvement through leading-edge digital and traditional tactics and ongoing evaluation of marketing practices.
  • Supervise employees in the Marketing and Communications department, including advertising, promotion, CRM, communications, and public relations.
  • Effectively lead, coach, and mentor the marketing team, participating in hiring, training, and performance oversight.
  • Responsible for promotion and delivery of content on KET-owned websites and social media platforms.
  • Determine the appropriate use of and direct vendors to advance agency goals.
  • Advance marketing automation and analytics to improve ROI.
  • Collaborate with other directors to develop consistent marketing across all channels.
  • Maintain relationships with state and national media and serve as a secondary spokesperson for KET.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, journalism, or a related discipline.
  • 10+ years of related experience, including 5+ years managing or supervising teams.
  • Exceptional creative, writing, and editing skills.
  • Proven record of complex, multi-channel campaigns that achieve marketing goals.
  • Proficient in project management, execution, and delivery.
  • Strong interpersonal and negotiating skills with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate and partner internally to identify and deliver strategic goals.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Wordpress, email marketing systems, and social media platforms.

Nice-to-haves

  • Public broadcasting experience preferred.
  • CRM experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of change management and employee development.
  • Ability to establish an independent view and motivate others during complex situations.
