About the position

The Director of Marketing for the Duolingo English Test will lead the marketing strategy aimed at institutions and governments, focusing on increasing the adoption of the test. This role involves managing the marketing budget, conducting market research, and overseeing communications, advertising, and public relations efforts. The position requires a strategic approach to brand development and awareness, ensuring consistency across various markets and consumer touchpoints. The director will also coordinate marketing efforts with the company's financial and branding goals and will travel internationally to support campaign objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the marketing strategy for institutions and governments to increase adoption of the Duolingo English Test.
  • Manage the marketing budget, market research, communications, advertising, and public relations for institutions and governments.
  • Develop the Duolingo English Test brand and drive brand awareness through marketing activities.
  • Identify brand growth opportunities by understanding regional-specific audiences and market data.
  • Lead the marketing function for the Duolingo English Test and develop the structure of the team.
  • Coordinate marketing efforts with the company's financial and branding goals.
  • Travel to key international markets to help drive campaign and business objectives.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of marketing experience across multiple dimensions - brand, performance, strategy, and analytics.
  • At least five years of proven experience leading global teams and effectively upscaling teams.
  • Willingness to engage with partners in time zones around the globe.
  • Ability to travel internationally frequently.
