About the position

The Director of Marketing Operations at Mayo Clinic is responsible for leading the development and execution of marketing strategies that align with business objectives, particularly in optimizing demand generation. This senior-level role involves managing staff and budgets, conducting annual planning, and collaborating with various marketing disciplines to ensure effective marketing initiatives. The position requires a strong understanding of digital marketing practices and the ability to adapt strategies based on performance metrics.

Responsibilities

  • Leads development of strategy and action plans to achieve business objectives, including optimizing demand generation.
  • Manages and directs staff and budgets with full decision-making authority.
  • Conducts annual planning and develops marketing plans based on target audience needs and enterprise capabilities.
  • Tracks and reports on measurement and ROI of marketing initiatives.
  • Serves as a senior advisor on marketing strategy and advocates for clients inside and outside the organization.
  • Collaborates extensively with other marketing and communications disciplines to ensure coordination and positive results.
  • Provides leadership, mentorship, and career development to staff.
  • Continuously learns and understands new marketing approaches, including digital marketing practices.
  • Evaluates plans to ensure progress toward business objectives and adapts plans as necessary.
  • Manages engagement with agencies on various projects.
  • Develops and manages budgets for assigned tasks.
  • Leads and handles complex tasks requiring strong project management skills.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and 12 years of experience in marketing or a related field.
  • 3 years of experience leading and managing high-performing teams.
  • A Master's degree or PhD in a related field is highly preferred.
  • Previous experience in healthcare is highly preferred.
  • Demonstrated success in marketing strategy development and tactical implementation of marketing initiatives.
  • Competency in market intelligence, data analysis, and digital marketing channels.
  • Demonstrated success in budget management.
  • Strong analytical, oral and written communication, and presentation skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with a major brand is helpful.
  • Strong background in digital marketing is preferred.
