About the position

The Director of Marketing position at Downright Austin, a Renaissance Hotel, is a senior-level role designed to manage, coordinate, and execute all aspects of holistic marketing initiatives for the hotel. This includes overseeing the hotel's digital sales and online presence across brand and vanity websites, third-party sites, and social media channels such as Facebook, Instagram, and potentially TikTok. The Director will ensure that all marketing materials, both in print and digital formats, adhere to the branding standards of Downright, providing uniform messaging that supports the hotel, its services, and its target consumers. In this role, the Director of Marketing will be responsible for all B2B and B2C marketing initiatives, which includes identifying and negotiating key partnership agreements, as well as ideating and executing brand-aligned programming and activations. The Director will also be tasked with annual media planning, with the objective of achieving the budgeted financial business plan through planned marketing initiatives across all segments and channels. The position requires maintaining and refining the brand voice across all marketing channels, planning and developing organic content for social media, managing third-party marketing agencies, and staying updated on market trends to inform strategy adjustments. The Director will draft annual marketing and media plans, manage paid social marketing strategies, and collaborate with sales and revenue teams to drive occupancy. Additionally, the role involves building relationships with influencers and local businesses, tracking media coverage, and executing promotional campaigns and events, all while supporting the hotel team with on-site promotions and crisis management as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains and refines brand-voice across all marketing channels.
  • Plans, drafts, and develops organic content for social media channels based on hotel needs and seasonality.
  • Writes and publishes engaging content and social campaigns across Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok.
  • Manages monthly content calendar with assistance from Corporate Marketing and PR team as needed.
  • Oversees and manages all third-party marketing related agencies including public relations, digital, and creative agencies.
  • Identifies brand-aligned partnerships, negotiates agreements, and supports execution.
  • Maintains updated knowledge of market trends and competitive set to inform strategy adjustments.
  • Curates a comprehensive calendar of programming and supporting activations including ideation and cost analysis.
  • Drafts annual marketing and media plans supported by budgeted expenses based on seasonal needs.
  • Ensures third-party agencies develop and execute annual strategy plans with KPI targets.
  • Manages paid social marketing development, strategy, execution, and reporting.
  • Collaborates with direct sales and revenue teams to deploy marketing strategies to drive occupancy.
  • Works with PR team to manage inquiries from the public and press.
  • Manages on-site media and influencer stays to curate The Downright brand experience.
  • Builds and fosters relationships with influencers and local businesses to generate marketing opportunities.
  • Tracks, analyzes, and reports all media coverage for hotel and restaurant outlets monthly.
  • Organizes and executes individual site visits and group FAM press trips.
  • Works with website agency to update and maintain website information.
  • Plans, drafts, and executes email campaigns, reporting on KPIs.
  • Proactively monitors and engages with the audience, responding to comments and inquiries.
  • Identifies new social media opportunities and maximizes existing ones.
  • Maintains weekly and monthly reporting on all marketing activities.
  • Supports hotel team with on-site promotions and events, including nights and weekends.
  • Assists with coordination and execution of events and promotional campaigns.
  • Supports any crisis management related needs.

Requirements

  • Senior-level experience in marketing, preferably in the hospitality industry.
  • Proven track record of managing digital marketing initiatives and social media channels.
  • Strong writing and content creation skills for various platforms.
  • Experience in managing third-party marketing agencies and partnerships.
  • Ability to analyze market trends and adjust strategies accordingly.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects and campaigns simultaneously.
  • Experience in budget management and financial planning for marketing initiatives.
