About the position

The Director of Marketing at Sportsman's Warehouse is responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive omnichannel marketing and communications strategy that supports business growth and enhances brand equity. This role involves planning, organizing, staffing, training, and managing all marketing functions to ensure alignment with corporate strategy, while providing hands-on leadership in marketing, public relations, and advertising efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Develop marketing/promotion plans and calendar for the company and work collaboratively to effectively execute across all channels.
  • Work closely with key vendors to develop effective marketing plans that best utilize their market development funds.
  • Increase brand awareness and customer acquisition in local, regional, and national arenas.
  • Assist local store managers with marketing best practices at the local level.
  • Manage each store location's marketing plan and spend, focusing on local stores to be involved in key grass-roots efforts.
  • Work collaboratively with internal and external teams to develop and maintain the private label visa credit card program.
  • Design, execute and report on all discounts, coupons, surveys, contests or sweepstakes as needed, ensuring compliance with state and federal laws.
  • Drive traffic and sales to store locations and website, providing results analysis measuring traffic, sales transactions, average ticket, profit, market share, and lifts.
  • Research customer demographics, psychographics and relevant geographic information to determine customer profile and target marketing areas.
  • Act as brand ‘gatekeeper', ensuring consistent and elevated use of logo and brand information through all channels.
  • Manage third-party partners for store and offline marketing initiatives.
  • Research and create strategic partner marketing programs to increase brand ‘reach' on the national level.
  • Manage all graphic design and print to ensure brand consistency and private label brand development.
  • Assist with the company's philanthropy efforts and partnerships, promoting efforts outside of the company.
  • Manage a strong, effective, and respected centralized marketing organization.

Requirements

  • In-depth, hands-on knowledge of omnichannel marketing strategy, promotions, and branding.
  • Proven ability to analyze data and recommend and implement action plans to address marketing trends and opportunities.
  • Prior experience developing and managing a marketing team.
  • Proven ability to successfully lead & develop collaborative teams.
  • Proven ability to build relationships internally and externally, working cross-functionally with other departments.
  • Proven fact-based decision-making and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated accomplishment in driving the strategic direction of the business through marketing practices and innovation.
  • Ability to understand the broader business perspective of the company beyond Marketing.
  • History of retaining, developing, motivating and mentoring a marketing team.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in the outdoor industry is preferred.
