About the position

The George Washington University Hospital (GWU Hospital) is seeking a Director of Marketing and Communications who will be responsible for the operational management and strategic planning of the marketing and communications functions of the hospital. This role is critical as it encompasses a 24-hour, 7-day-a-week responsibility, ensuring that the hospital's marketing strategies align with its mission to provide high-quality healthcare and world-class service. The Director will oversee the development and implementation of comprehensive marketing plans that strategically position the hospital in the marketplace, leveraging both traditional and non-traditional media outlets to enhance the hospital's visibility and reputation. As an academic medical center, GWU Hospital serves a diverse patient population, including residents and national leaders, and offers specialized care in areas such as cardiac, cancer, neurosciences, women's health, trauma, and advanced surgical procedures. The Director will play a pivotal role in communicating the hospital's capabilities and services to the community, ensuring that the messaging reflects the hospital's commitment to excellence in healthcare and education. The position requires a deep understanding of brand management and the ability to define and execute marketing strategies that resonate with the hospital's mission and values. Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related field.
  • Master's Degree preferred.
  • 8-10 years of experience in marketing, public relations, communications, or a related field.
  • Healthcare experience preferred.
  • Previous experience working with traditional and non-traditional media outlets.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Demonstrated ability to define marketing strategy and develop comprehensive plans.
  • Knowledge of brand management.
