About the position

The Director of Marketing at Oregon Institute of Technology is responsible for overseeing the Marketing and Communications operations within the Marketing/Communications/Public Affairs department. This role involves developing, implementing, and evaluating marketing strategies aimed at enhancing the university's image and supporting student recruitment efforts. The Director collaborates with various departments and manages both internal staff and external contractors to achieve the university's marketing goals.

Responsibilities

  • Manage overall Marketing and Communications operations within the department.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate marketing strategies and initiatives.
  • Collaborate with enrollment management and other departments to promote academic programs and university branding.
  • Oversee departmental staff and external contractors for writing, design, and other services.
  • Participate in strategic planning for branding and outreach goals.
  • Manage budget and resource allocation for marketing initiatives.
  • Support the development and evaluation of short- and long-range goals related to marketing.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • At least five years of progressively responsible experience in marketing, including two years of managerial experience.
  • Experience in university marketing and developing strategies that impact student recruitment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in marketing, branding, and communications strategy.
  • Excellent verbal, writing, and communication skills.
  • Valid driver's license at the time of hire.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in Marketing, Journalism, Communications, or related field.
  • Eight or more years of management experience in marketing and communications.
  • Excellent project management skills.
  • Experience in budget management.
  • Success in managing and developing staff.
