About the position

The Director of Marketing at William Woods University plays a pivotal role in shaping the university's marketing, advertising, and promotional strategies, particularly focusing on Admissions Marketing. This position is responsible for overseeing a diverse array of activities that range from print advertising to organizing special events, all aimed at enhancing the university's visibility and increasing enrollment through strategic recruitment communication and effective advertising campaigns. The Director will work closely with various departments to ensure that the marketing efforts align with the university's goals and objectives. In this role, the Director will produce regular communications and promotional campaigns, ensuring that the university is effectively marketed to prospective students. This includes preparing strategies for paid media efforts and conducting regular research to stay updated on the latest trends in Higher Education Marketing. The Director will collaborate with editorial and graphic design staff to create and produce promotional materials, write content for student recruitment publications, and maintain consistency across all promotional efforts, particularly in social media and other digital platforms. Additionally, the Director will be responsible for tracking budgets and analytics to measure the return on investment (ROI) for all advertising and promotional activities. This position requires a strong background in marketing and communications, with a particular emphasis on student recruitment, and the ability to think creatively and develop innovative strategies to attract students and faculty while building relationships with various constituent groups.

Responsibilities

  • Produce regular communications, advertising, promotional campaigns, and special event strategies to ensure maximum exposure of the university toward prospective students.
  • Assist in achieving student recruitment goals through marketing efforts.
  • Help attract faculty and staff, increase private gifts to the university, and build relationships with various constituent groups.
  • Prepare strategies for paid media efforts.
  • Research and stay abreast of leading trends in Higher Education Marketing.
  • Collaborate with editorial and graphic design staff to create and produce promotional materials.
  • Write content for student recruitment publications and other printed materials.
  • Ensure consistency of promotional efforts with editorial and social media staff.
  • Track budgets and analytics to measure return on investment (ROI) for advertising and promotional efforts.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in marketing or a related field is required.
  • A master's degree is preferred.
  • Five years of marketing and communications experience is required.
  • Experience in a higher education setting is preferred.
  • Experience in CRMs with marketing suites is required.
  • Experience in Pardot (Account Engagement Suite) and Salesforce is preferred.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness and evidence of past success in marketing and/or public relations, and student recruitment.
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills are required.
  • Knowledge of and experience with search engine optimization, social media, and marketing strategies.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Word applications, proprietary databases, and other technical tools.
  • Publication experience required.
  • Ability to think creatively and develop innovative strategies.
  • High organization skills, meticulous and detail-oriented.
  • Evidence of high ethical standards and professionalism.
  • Skilled in managing projects, prioritizing and organizing work, and meeting deadlines and goals.
  • Experience in fostering good relations with campus constituents.
  • Experience working collaboratively and effectively with fellow staff, peers, faculty, vendors, administrators, and supporters of the university.
