About the position

The Director of Marketing at Pacific Science Center is a strategic and creative leader responsible for overseeing the organization's marketing and communications efforts. This role focuses on driving awareness of PacSci's impact in the community while supporting contributed revenue goals through integrated marketing campaigns. The Director will lead a team of marketing professionals, manage the marketing budget, and collaborate with various departments to enhance program visibility and community engagement.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and communicate strategic, guest-focused integrated marketing plans to increase attendance, program participation, visibility, and awareness of PacSci's impact in the community.
  • Lead, nurture, and grow a team of marketing professionals to successfully execute campaigns.
  • Support Development through multi-channel marketing activities to drive awareness of and investment in PacSci's community impact.
  • Regularly track performance of advertising and marketing investments, including email, social, website, and partnerships.
  • Manage and approve content for marketing channels, ensuring consistent on-brand and on-message communications.
  • Conduct market and audience testing relevant to increasing engagement, sales, visitor satisfaction, etc.
  • Manage external vendors, including paid media, website, and hosting with support from the Digital Marketing Manager.
  • Work closely with Exhibits and Education to leverage new experiences and programs in marketing content.
  • Utilize guest feedback to inform marketing and communications strategy, provide feedback to impact programmatic choices, and branding of products and programs.
  • Develop and manage the annual marketing budget, including evaluating and approving contracts and invoices.
  • Serve as a spokesperson for PacSci as needed and represent PacSci as an organizational leader at external meetings.
  • Manage large promotional partnerships with support from the Marketing Communications Manager.
  • Collaborate with the leadership team to align marketing efforts with overall organizational priorities.
  • Identify target audiences and tailor marketing campaigns to effectively reach and engage them.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of progressive leadership experience in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or a related field.
  • At least 3 years in a leadership role, preferably within the nonprofit sector.
  • Proven success in developing and executing strategic marketing plans.
  • Experience managing digital marketing, social media, and content creation efforts.
  • Proficiency with marketing tools such as Google Analytics, social media management platforms, and email marketing systems.
  • Familiarity with fundraising and donor-centric communication strategies.
