About the position

The Director of Network Operations at the University of Cincinnati is responsible for overseeing the 24/7 availability, performance, and security of the university's network and voice services. This role involves analyzing the network for improvements, managing budgets, and ensuring compliance with best practices. The director will lead a team in the planning and execution of network operations, collaborate with information security, and manage vendor relationships to enhance service delivery and operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the planning, execution, and day-to-day operations for the University's network operations and support teams.
  • Collaborate with the Office of Information Security to ensure network security and compliance.
  • Provide technical guidance to senior management regarding new technologies.
  • Define and lead troubleshooting processes and participate in change management.
  • Work closely with other teams to implement and improve services and processes.
  • Design, develop, implement, and coordinate systems, policies, and procedures.
  • Oversee the department budget and assist in annual budget planning and analysis.
  • Oversee multiple moderate to complex projects and manage project team activities.
  • Engage with staff about topics related to Diversity and Inclusion.
  • Interface and manage relationships with vendors and service providers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or related field.
  • Seven years of advanced level experience with networking hardware and software.
  • Five years of supervisory and management experience of a technical network management team.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing customer service and experience through ITSM tools.
  • Knowledge of network service delivery including availability, reliability, and security.
  • Experience in managing technical projects through a project management process.
  • Knowledge and experience in managing a complex budget.

Nice-to-haves

  • CCNA, CCNP, CCIE, or related industry certifications.
  • Expert level knowledge in systems/platforms/technologies used by the department.
  • Degree or training in business administration or management.
  • Experience in supporting or delivering technology services in Higher Education.
