About the position

The Director of New Product Management at Cubic Corporation is responsible for leading the implementation of new products within the LVC Training business unit. This role involves strategic planning, collaboration with engineering and program management, and overseeing the transition of prototypes to production. The director will work closely with the integrated supply chain to optimize sourcing strategies and ensure alignment with business growth and profitability goals.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the implementation of new products in the LVC Training business unit.
  • Develop prototype and initial production builds, along with production ramp plans.
  • Collaborate with engineering and program management on new product design for manufacturability.
  • Establish effective sources of material supply in coordination with the integrated supply chain.
  • Perform long-term and strategic planning with business development and engineering teams.
  • Interface with the ISC function to optimize sourcing strategies and business needs.
  • Assist in making strategic make-buy decisions for the business unit.
  • Anticipate changes in the supply market and drive activities accordingly.
  • Design advanced sourcing strategies for individual commodities.
  • Select key suppliers and develop Master Purchase Agreements for critical systems.
  • Oversee negotiations and awards based on manufacturing price strategies.
  • Support proposal evaluation and negotiation processes.
  • Develop cost reduction and avoidance programs with a focus on total cost impact.
  • Establish and adhere to budget specifications for organizational and program-related activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in materials management, business administration, supply chain, or related field.
  • Minimum of ten years of experience in diverse buying activities.
  • At least two years of supervisory experience.
  • Experience in categories such as PCBA and Components, Electro-Mechanical Assemblies, Metals, OEM, or Indirect Spaces.
  • Materials management certificate is desirable.
  • Strong negotiation skills and knowledge of proposal evaluation.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability and strong communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Continuing education in procurement trends and transit requirements.
  • NAPM courses and CPM certification are desirable.
