About the position

The position involves leading the LVC Training business unit's new product implementation to manufacturing, reporting directly to the VP of Operations. The role focuses on developing prototypes and initial production builds, ensuring alignment with customer needs, and collaborating with engineering and program management to optimize product design for manufacturability. The incumbent will also work closely with the integrated Supply Chain function to make strategic sourcing decisions that support business growth and profitability.

Responsibilities

  • Perform long term and strategic planning with LVC Training business development, engineering, and program management.
  • Serve as the main interface between the business unit and ISC function on specific product groups and categories to optimize sourcing strategies and business needs.
  • Help LVC Training business unit to make strategic make-buy decisions.
  • Ensure alignment, anticipate changes, and drive activities based on supply market changes.
  • Work with ISC to design advanced sourcing strategies for individual commodities outside of traditional levers.
  • Understand supplier market dynamics/intelligence and use it as an input into the sourcing strategy.
  • Select key suppliers with input from Program Management, Contract, Sub-contracts, Legal, and Quality for development of Master Purchase Agreements.
  • Oversee and participate in key negotiations and awards based on manufacturing price to win strategies.
  • Provide critical support on proposal evaluation, negotiation, and administration, including politically sensitive subjects.
  • Review critical procurement status information with senior management.
  • Develop cost reduction/cost avoidance programs with emphasis on total cost impact.
  • Establish and perform to budget specifications (both organizational and program-related).
  • Develop strategies and tactics to optimize contract negotiations for maximum return on investment.

Requirements

  • Four-year college degree in materials management, business administration, supply chain, or related field.
  • Minimum of ten years of experience in diverse buying activities, including two years of supervisory experience.
  • Experience in categories such as PCBA and Components, Electro-Mechanical Assemblies, Metals, OEM, and/or Indirect Spaces.
  • Materials management certificate desirable.
  • Knowledge of proposal evaluation and proven ability to negotiate effectively.
  • Ability to provide workable solutions to a wide variety of subcontractor/customer challenges.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills for interface with all levels of management.

Nice-to-haves

  • Continuing education in procurement trends, transit requirements, etc.
  • NAPM courses and CPM are desirable.
