About the position
The Director of Nursing (DON) is responsible for overseeing the nursing operations of a skilled nursing and rehabilitation center, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations while delivering high-quality patient care. This role involves managing nursing staff, implementing facility policies, and coordinating with medical consultants to enhance patient outcomes. The DON plays a crucial role in fostering a cohesive team environment focused on patient satisfaction and safety.
Responsibilities
- Implement and monitor Facility Policies and Procedures to ensure compliance with all Federal and State Minimum Standards.
- Participate in resident referrals and admissions, determining Medicare Part A coverage and discontinuation based on regulations.
- Supervise documentation of services provided to residents.
- Oversee Medical Consultants and ensure recommendations are communicated and documented appropriately.
- Monitor and control nursing-related supplies, equipment, and ancillary charges.
- Serve on various committees as appointed by the Administrator.
- Supervise infection control and antibiotic stewardship programs.
- Interview, hire, train, and supervise nursing staff, reviewing competency and providing ongoing training.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Administrator.
Requirements
- Registered Nurse (RN) license is required.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in skilled nursing is preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of nursing management experience is preferred.
