About the position

The Director of Nursing (DON) is responsible for overseeing the daily clinical and administrative operations of the nursing department in a nursing home. This role ensures that residents receive the necessary care and services to maintain their physical, mental, and psychosocial well-being, in line with their comprehensive care plans. The DON advocates for both residents and staff, promotes high standards of care, and incorporates evidence-based practices within the nursing department.

Responsibilities

  • Access, analyze, and develop systems within the nursing department.
  • Oversee daily clinical and administrative operations of the nursing department.
  • Ensure each resident receives necessary care and services to maintain their well-being.
  • Incorporate evidence-based practice in providing high-quality care.
  • Advocate for residents and staff under direction.
  • Foster high standards of resident care through orientation and continuing education efforts.
  • Ensure adequate levels of nursing personnel and properly prepared nursing supervisors and managers.

Requirements

  • Previous experience as a Director in Long Term Care.
  • Strong supervision and leadership skills.
