About the position

The Director of Nursing (DON) is responsible for leading the clinical team in a skilled nursing facility in Houston, ensuring high-quality patient care and compliance with healthcare regulations. This role requires strong leadership skills, the ability to manage nursing operations, and a commitment to exceeding patient expectations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee the nursing staff, ensuring quality care and adherence to regulations.
  • Manage and optimize nursing operations, including scheduling, training, and performance evaluations.
  • Utilize EMR and EHR systems effectively to maintain accurate patient records.
  • Implement and monitor HIPAA compliance protocols within the nursing department.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to provide comprehensive patient care.
  • Stay updated on Medicare regulations and ensure compliance in nursing practices.

Requirements

  • Must be a Registered Nurse (RN) in good standing with a valid license in Texas.
  • Previous long-term care experience as a DON.
  • Experience in performance management and effective leadership.
  • Able to relate positively and favorably to residents, families, and government regulators.
  • Demonstrates understanding of State and Federal regulations that govern the practices of the facility.

  • Supervising experience: 3 years (Preferred)
  • Nursing: 5 years (Preferred)
  • Director of Nursing: 3 years (Required)
