About the position
The Director of Nursing (DON) at Archbold Mitchell Hospital is responsible for planning, developing, organizing, implementing, evaluating, and directing nursing staff in accordance with current rules, regulations, and guidelines. This role includes counseling team members as necessary and providing timely documentation of such actions in coordination with HR, the Hospital Administrator, and/or the VP of Critical Access. The DON will develop, maintain, and update the competencies and skills checklist for each level of nursing staff personnel in a timely manner, formulate and introduce new policies and procedures, and evaluate daily staffing needs based on patient census and acuity level. The position requires accepting 24-hour on-call responsibility.
Responsibilities
- Plan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate and direct nursing staff.
- Counsel team members and provide timely documentation of actions.
- Develop, maintain, and update competencies and skills checklist for nursing staff.
- Formulate, introduce, and train on new policies and procedures.
- Evaluate daily staffing needs based on patient census and acuity level.
- Accept 24-hour on-call responsibility.
Requirements
- Current Georgia RN License in good standing.
- BSN or higher preferred.
- Two (2) years experience in an administrative role (i.e. Head Nurse, Assistant Director of Nursing, Director of Nursing).
- Extensive knowledge of professional nursing theory and practice.
- Knowledge of modern principles and practices of hospital operations and nursing administration.
