About the position

The Director of Nursing (DON) at Ingleside Communities is responsible for overseeing and managing the nursing services within the facility. This role involves leading the nursing team, ensuring compliance with healthcare standards, and providing high-quality care to residents. The DON will also take charge in the absence of the Administrator, making critical decisions and maintaining operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise all levels of nursing personnel and direct resident care.
  • Recruit, interview, hire, evaluate, discipline, and terminate nursing personnel.
  • Assist in orientation and training of all nursing personnel.
  • Oversee scheduling of all nursing personnel to ensure appropriate staff coverage to meet State and Federal standards.
  • Schedule and direct regular meetings for professional nurses and nursing assistants per competencies.
  • Evaluate and enforce proper infection control techniques.
  • Attend and contribute to Care Plans as needed, attend QAPI meetings.
  • Represent facility and nursing service at professional organizations.
  • Evaluate placement of all new residents to the facility.
  • Take responsibility for the facility in the absence of the Administrator.
  • Continually seek methods to upgrade and improve delivery of care to the residents.
  • Provide clinical, administrative, and clinical leadership for nursing staff to promote the delivery of quality care.
  • Develop and revise nursing policies and procedures.
  • Develop, revise, monitor, and implement the nursing department budget to promote appropriate utilization of resources.
  • Collaborate with staff development to ensure a staff development program is in place to meet regulatory clinical and staff needs.
  • Foster a culture of continuous quality improvement and evaluate the nursing department quality assurance program.
  • Develop and maintain policies and procedures to promote compliance with all state and federal regulations and nursing standards.
  • Serve as a nursing liaison with other departments, Medical Director, and residents/families.

Requirements

  • Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Must be licensed to practice as an RN in the State of Wisconsin.
  • Must possess competence in supervision, leadership, and communication skills.
  • Must have the ability to plan, develop, and implement nursing policies.
  • Must be organized, self-motivated, and able to work independently.
  • Must be able to make decisions in emergency situations.
  • Must understand the legal aspects of nursing under the nurse practice act of the State of Wisconsin.
  • Must be physically able to waist lift up to a maximum of 30 lbs with frequent waist lifting of objects weighing up to 10 lbs.
  • Must be able to push objects with a maximum effort of 25 lbs.
  • Must be able to stand or walk 4-6 hours in an 8-hour day.
  • Must be able to occasionally bend, squat, and twist body during an 8-hour day.

Nice-to-haves
