About the position

The Director of Online Marketing/User Experience at the University of Houston is responsible for the overall growth and defining key business measures and objectives for the university's websites and online marketing initiatives. This role involves developing long-term strategic goals for online marketing and communications while providing oversight of the digital user experience. The director will oversee enterprise marketing technology solutions, including the content management system (CMS), and will provide direction in the day-to-day operations to staff involved in the development and maintenance of CMS tools and templates. This ensures that internal users are supported and that external visitors have a positive user experience. As the primary point of contact for online marketing initiatives, the director will work to ensure the growth of the University of Houston brand. This includes establishing and building relationships with cross-functional marketing teams to develop a centralized web marketing plan and make improvements to the overall user experience. The director will lead the team in establishing processes to track both quantitative and qualitative results of online campaigns, events, and other programs, interpreting these results to adjust approaches that maximize engagement and return on investment (ROI). Additionally, the director will conduct website user and customer surveys and demographic research to identify, evaluate, and recommend online marketing opportunities that align with the division's objectives. Managing third-party contractors and vendors is also a key responsibility, ensuring that projects and tasks are completed on time and within budget. The director may also be required to present and conduct group discussions on online marketing strategies and promoting user experience for a broad range of internal audiences. Other job-related duties may be assigned as necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct website user and customer surveys/demographic research.
  • Identify, evaluate and recommend online marketing opportunities in line with Division objectives.
  • Manage third party contractors and vendors to ensure projects and tasks are completed on time and on budget.
  • Present and conduct group discussions on online marketing strategies and promoting user experience for a broad range of internal audiences.
  • Research, write, and edit content for web pages as needed.
  • Perform other job-related duties as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of directly job-related experience.
  • Strong track record for leading cross-functional teams.
  • Thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in Energy of Higher Ed is preferred but not required.
  • Experience in lieu of education may be accepted.
