About the position

The Director of Operations and Finance at The GrowHaus is a strategic leadership role responsible for overseeing the organization's operations and financial integrity. This position plays a crucial role in shaping the future of The GrowHaus as it embarks on a growth phase, including the construction of a new facility. The Director will act as a key advisor to the Executive Director and Board of Directors, focusing on risk mitigation, financial planning, and legal compliance while enhancing programming and impact through effective management of resources and stakeholder relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure efficient and effective operations at all levels of the organization.
  • Lead risk mitigation efforts and manage compliance with regulations and codes.
  • Oversee general infrastructure operations, including leases, maintenance, and permits.
  • Manage contract and vendor relationships, including invoicing.
  • Lead security and safety protocols for emergency procedures.
  • Support internal IT needs and ensure staff training on technologies.
  • Oversee front office operations, including warehouse and administrative issues.
  • Manage and scale internal financial operations to ensure financial integrity.
  • Develop and oversee the annual financial calendar and lead the audit process.
  • Prepare regular budget and financial reports, including grant modeling and forecasting.
  • Manage internal bookkeeping processes and liaise with external accounting teams.
  • Oversee payroll processing and state charitable compliance processes.
  • Support staffing needs and ensure compliance with employment regulations.
  • Develop and manage HR policies, processes, and employee benefits.

Requirements

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish, both written and oral.
  • 7+ years of professional experience in finance, accounting, or business administration, preferably in the nonprofit sector.
  • 5+ years in a leadership role or independently leading a business function as a financial manager.
  • Working knowledge of GAAP accounting principles and practices.
  • Experience leading and coordinating annual audits and financial documentation.
  • Experience with grant management, compliance, and financial reporting.
  • Demonstrated experience in personnel management and human resources.
  • Experience managing complex, multi-department operations.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Google Workplace administration for mid-size organizations.
  • Ability to learn or onboard new technologies for nonprofit operations.
