About the position

The Director of Operations at Atra: Center for Rabbinic Innovation will lead the development and optimization of operational infrastructure to support the organization's mission and growth. This role is pivotal as Atra transitions from a start-up to a structured organization, focusing on enhancing systems for data management, project management, and financial tracking. The Director will work closely with the Executive Director and oversee consultants to ensure effective communication and workflow across departments, fostering a collaborative and inclusive workplace culture.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the rollout of new organizational systems for data management, reporting, and project management.
  • Manage cross-departmental workflows and align resource allocations with organizational goals.
  • Lead operational processes for financial tracking and budget management in collaboration with Hillel Finance.
  • Manage the integration of project management tools and CRM to support strategy and data accuracy.
  • Coordinate with external consultants to optimize workflows and infrastructure for a hybrid team.
  • Oversee vendor relationships and manage space and equipment needs.
  • Lead recruitment, onboarding, and employee relations to create an inclusive hiring process.
  • Maintain employee guidelines and oversee review processes that reflect Atra's values.
  • Identify and implement professional development initiatives for team growth.
  • Lead cross-functional team meetings and ensure follow-ups are tracked and completed.
  • Prepare operational updates and reports for the board, tracking organizational KPIs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, nonprofit management, or a related field required; advanced degree strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of 8+ years of experience in operations, HR, financial management, or nonprofit project management.
  • Proven ability to balance strong attention to detail with flexibility in a dynamic environment.
  • Skilled in using data and project management tools (e.g., Asana, Google Suite, accounting software, CRMs).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in nonprofit project management or HR.
  • Familiarity with Jewish community organizations or cultural contexts.
