About the position

As the Director of Operations for Environmental Services (EVS) at Crothall Healthcare, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the operational needs of the Housekeeping Department within a healthcare setting. This position requires a strategic leader who can effectively coordinate the activities of Assistant Directors and Operations Managers while serving as a vital liaison between hospital administration and various departments. Your responsibilities will encompass a wide range of operational tasks, including financial oversight, budget management, and compliance with regulatory standards. You will be expected to demonstrate quality leadership, ensuring that the department meets its performance goals and objectives while fostering a culture of creativity and innovation among staff. In this role, you will be responsible for monitoring the department's financial data and statistics, developing and recommending the operating budget, and ensuring that the department operates within its financial means. You will coordinate housekeeping activities with other departments, actively communicate with administration, and plan, organize, direct, and supervise the functions and activities of the department. Establishing work standards and workflows, implementing policies and procedures, and encouraging staff participation in educational programs will also be key components of your role. You will need to ensure compliance with all regulatory agencies and proactively work towards achieving the facility's goals and objectives. Your leadership will be crucial in developing and maintaining job descriptions for department staff, as well as in administering the Total Quality Management process. This position requires a strong ability to analyze and interpret financial and operational data, along with excellent interpersonal skills and a high customer service orientation. You will need to work effectively under pressure, meet established goals, and utilize a participative approach to managing staff, all while maintaining a focus on quality and efficiency in the housekeeping operations.

Responsibilities

  • Direct and oversee the operational needs of the Housekeeping Department.
  • Coordinate the tasks of the Assistant Directors and Operations Managers.
  • Serve as a liaison between administration and hospital departments.
  • Monitor department's financial data and statistics.
  • Develop and recommend department operating budget and ensure compliance with budgetary constraints.
  • Coordinate housekeeping activities with other departments.
  • Plan, organize, direct, coordinate, and supervise functions and activities of the department.
  • Establish work standards and workflows for the department.
  • Implement policies and procedures for departmental operations.
  • Encourage and mentor staff creativity and innovation.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory agencies.
  • Proactively work towards achieving facility goals and objectives.
  • Demonstrate quality leadership in meeting performance plans.
  • Administer the Total Quality Management process.
  • Develop and maintain job descriptions for department staff.
  • Encourage staff participation in education programs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
  • Six years of housekeeping management experience in a healthcare setting.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret financial and operational data.
  • General business acumen and excellent interpersonal skills.
  • High customer service and quality attitude.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet established goals and objectives.
  • Public speaking skills and ability to utilize a participative approach to managing staff.
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills, with follow-through capabilities.
