About the position

The Operations Director II at Southern Glazer's Wine & Spirits is responsible for planning, coordinating, and organizing systems and processes that define a scalable distribution network for materials and goods. This role is crucial in supporting business and growth objectives, ensuring operational efficiencies, and leading continuous improvement initiatives within the distribution operations.

Responsibilities

  • Direct all aspects of the distribution operation including picking and packing, shipping and receiving, replenishment, production, returns, inventory control management, and maintenance of facilities.
  • Establish, evaluate, and maintain performance standards for all areas of the warehouse to ensure accountability and meet client Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
  • Ensure operating efficiencies by reviewing performance to identify continuous improvement opportunities and implement new strategies.
  • Provide leadership in cost reduction through continuous process improvements and automation to maintain and enhance margins.
  • Manage and administer the planning and control systems related to the complete flow of material from receiving through shipping, including transactional controls.
  • Responsible for budgeting and reporting efforts including labor, operating expenses, Profit & Loss, and forecasting.
  • Coordinate with Client Relations and Sales for the successful implementation of new clients.
  • Partner with senior management to strategically plan for future growth.
  • Analyze capacity and capital equipment requirements, client forecasts, and organizational processes.
  • Develop and execute plans for continual growth and peak seasons.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree and 7 years of experience or equivalent education and related experience.
  • Strong organization, multi-tasking, and time management skills.
  • Working knowledge of Six Sigma and Lean Methodologies.
  • Demonstrate clear knowledge of laws, regulations, and guidelines within their respective industries to ensure compliance with regulatory agencies.
  • Proficient with Enterprise Systems such as SAP software and Warehouse Management Systems.
  • Wine & Spirits Industry knowledge including basic understanding of distribution, wine varietals, and leading spirit categories.
