About the position

The Director of Operations & Innovation at California State University, Sacramento, plays a crucial role in promoting student success by overseeing and supporting strategic initiatives within the Division of Student Affairs. This position involves collaboration with divisional leaders to develop and implement programs, track initiatives, and serve as the chief communications officer for the division. The Director is responsible for enhancing fundraising efforts and ensuring effective communication strategies to engage students and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Provide oversight and support for strategic priorities and goals related to student success.
  • Collaborate with divisional leaders to develop and implement programmatic operations.
  • Coordinate and track the division's initiatives, goals, and activities as a liaison to the Vice President for Student Affairs.
  • Serve as chief communications officer, managing internal and external communications for the division.
  • Work with the Development Director to advance fundraising and sponsorship initiatives.
  • Participate in the planning and implementation of new or reimagined Student Affairs programs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field or equivalent work experience.
  • Directly relevant experience in student support and/or service areas at a college or university.
  • Demonstrated experience with project management and assessment.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders to provide strategic direction and leadership.
  • Experience in implementing new initiatives with innovation and strategic thinking.
  • Strong analytical ability and good judgment in decision-making.
  • Experience in creating marketing and communication strategies for college/university students.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the Sacramento State Division of Student Affairs programs and priorities.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's Degree in a related field from an accredited university.
  • Experience with donor development and engagement.
  • Five or more years of progressively responsible experience in student affairs or related fields.
  • Experience providing supervision or lead work direction in higher education.
  • Working knowledge of California State University policies and procedures.
