About the position

The Director of Operations at Penn Power Systems is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the regional industrial and power generation service centers. This role focuses on managing field service activities, enhancing productivity, optimizing profit margins, and ensuring compliance with safety and environmental standards. The Director will work closely with service technicians and internal teams to foster strong customer relationships and drive performance improvements.

Responsibilities

  • Manage service scheduling for new equipment startups, preventative maintenance agreements, emergencies, and additional work within contractual guidelines.
  • Provide performance assessments and feedback to service technicians.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers.
  • Ensure all work orders are invoiced within 5 days of last labor.
  • Develop good working relationships with internal teams and team members.
  • Complete performance reviews for all charges per job.
  • Ensure timely and correct completion of rental maintenance and repairs for 100% rental readiness.
  • Monitor and report the status of open additional and emergency service orders to customers.
  • Drive technician performance to meet target hours on preventative maintenance and quoted jobs for proper gross profit outcomes.
  • Ensure day-to-day safe working practices, including electrical, lifting, and driving safety.
  • Monitor and report training deficiencies to the Regional Operations Manager.
  • Develop best practices to maintain financial goals set by the department.
  • Foster a team atmosphere with other Technical Service Managers (TSMs) and staff.
  • Work with parts departments to streamline order to dispatch processes.
  • Review PMA's scope and targets with the Regional Manager for proper pricing and execution.
  • Plan, communicate, and execute the off-hours on-call list for the designated area of responsibility.

Requirements

  • Minimum high school diploma required.
  • Two-year associates management degree or equivalent experience desirable.
  • Minimum of two years of supervisory experience in a heavy-duty diesel or power generation repair business.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft products is required.
