About the position

The Director of Operations (Self-Perform) at Alberici Constructors, Inc. is a pivotal role responsible for overseeing the business unit's projects, ensuring they are managed and constructed in alignment with the company's values, policies, and procedures. This position requires close collaboration with Project Managers to guarantee that project teams, subcontractors, and suppliers fulfill their contractual obligations while also tracking the financial performance of the projects. The Director is accountable for maintaining high standards of safety, client satisfaction, and financial performance within the business unit. In this role, the Director will implement management systems and practices across assigned projects, contributing to business development and enhancing the company's competitive edge in the marketplace. The Director is expected to model and enforce safety as the top priority on project sites, proactively motivating project staff to advocate for safety and ensuring compliance with the company's safety policies. The Director will also be involved in project planning, ensuring that the right project staff are identified and that projects follow established management and construction systems. They will oversee project start-up processes, manage quality and productivity, and maintain effective relationships with subcontractors and suppliers. Additionally, the Director will play a key role in business development, establishing and maintaining positive relationships with clients, and exploring new business opportunities. This position requires a strong focus on financial management, ensuring that projects are planned, scheduled, and managed effectively to achieve favorable financial results. The Director will also be responsible for managing and developing employees, ensuring that roles and responsibilities are clearly defined and that team members are supported in their professional growth. Overall, the Director of Operations (Self-Perform) is essential in driving the success of the business unit and the company as a whole.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all projects within the business unit, ensuring they align with company values and policies.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers to track financial performance and ensure project teams meet contractual obligations.
  • Implement management systems and practices across assigned projects.
  • Model and enforce safety policies and procedures on project sites.
  • Develop and approve safety incentive programs for projects as appropriate.
  • Identify effective project staff and recommend staffing to the Vice President.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental, safety, and regulatory requirements on projects.
  • Monitor project progress and intervene as necessary to meet client needs and project timelines.
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with clients and subcontractors.
  • Manage financial performance of projects, including billing and collections.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (B.S. or B.A.) from a four-year college or university.
  • Ten (10) years of experience in managing self-perform concrete, steel erection, industrial equipment installation, selective demolition, and marine-related scopes.
  • Experience in joint ventures and operating in a union environment is preferred.
