About the position

Oldcastle Infrastructure, a CRH company, is seeking a highly skilled individual to join our team as a leader in optimizing our value stream. This role is pivotal in ensuring engineering and manufacturing excellence while meeting the demands of our customers. Reporting directly to the Area General Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing a team of 3-5 direct reports, including Engineering Managers and Plant Managers. Your primary focus will be on coaching and developing talent within your team, which is critical for the success of this position. In this role, you will ensure that customer demands are not only met but exceeded by implementing cost-effective and operationally sound manufacturing processes. You will lead a collaborative team of engineers and plant managers, working together to reduce costs and optimize production efficiency. Your responsibilities will include aligning all engineering projects, initiatives, and processes with Oldcastle's operational excellence strategic objectives. You will also be accountable for managing the overall engineering and operational budget, ensuring that costs are kept in check while pursuing an area/regional model for utilizing engineering resources effectively. This position combines engineering and manufacturing functional strategies to achieve key objectives. You will be tasked with developing long-term improvement plans for manufacturing plants, focusing on automation and equipment enhancements. Your role will require in-depth P&L analytical capabilities, as well as knowledge of freight and transportation logistics, Capex purchasing, installations, and payback tracking. You will manage major projects and evaluate large Capex investments, ensuring that all initiatives align with continuous improvement methodologies, including Lean manufacturing and Six Sigma practices. The main KPIs for which you will be accountable include strategic long-term plans for automation, operational excellence initiatives, manufacturing productivity, and customer service levels.

Responsibilities

  • Optimize the value stream to ensure engineering and manufacturing excellence.
  • Lead a team of engineers and plant managers, coaching them to collaborate effectively.
  • Ensure customer demands are met or exceeded through cost-effective manufacturing processes.
  • Align engineering projects and initiatives with operational excellence strategic objectives.
  • Manage the overall engineering and operational budget and costs.
  • Develop long-term improvement plans for manufacturing plants, focusing on automation and equipment improvements.
  • Conduct in-depth P&L analysis and manage freight and transportation logistics.
  • Oversee Capex purchasing, installations, and payback tracking for major projects.
  • Implement continuous improvement methodologies, including Lean and Six Sigma.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Business; Master's Degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of managerial experience in a related field.
  • In-depth P&L analytical capabilities.
  • Knowledge of freight and transportation logistics.
  • Experience with Capex purchasing and project management.
  • Familiarity with continuous improvement methodologies such as Lean and Six Sigma.
