In this pivotal role at Oldcastle Infrastructure, you will report directly to the Area General Manager and play a crucial part in optimizing our value stream. Your primary focus will be on ensuring engineering and manufacturing excellence while meeting the demands of our customers. This position typically oversees a team of 3-5 direct reports, including Engineering Managers and Plant Managers. A key aspect of your success will be your ability to coach and develop talent within your team, fostering collaboration to reduce costs and enhance production efficiency. You will be responsible for ensuring that all engineering projects, initiatives, and processes align with Oldcastle's operational excellence strategic objectives. Additionally, you will manage the overall engineering and operational budget, ensuring cost-effectiveness in our manufacturing processes. Your role will involve the development of long-term strategies and improvement plans for our manufacturing plants, focusing on automation and equipment enhancements. You will utilize your in-depth P&L analytical capabilities to manage freight and transportation logistics, oversee Capex purchasing and installations, and track payback on investments. Major project management and large Capex evaluation will also fall under your purview. A strong understanding of continuous improvement methodologies, including Lean manufacturing and Six Sigma, will be essential to your success in this position. You will be accountable for several key performance indicators (KPIs), including the strategic long-term plan for automation, operational excellence initiatives, manufacturing productivity, and controlling costs related to materials, labor, and freight. Your leadership will be critical in optimizing lead times, managing man hours per ton, and improving customer service levels. You will also be responsible for implementing training programs for team leads to ensure continuous development and improvement within the organization.
