About the position

The Operations Director for Carefree of Colorado is a pivotal role responsible for the comprehensive planning, manufacturing, and shipping strategy within the organization. This position is integral to aligning various plant departments with the overarching objectives of safety, quality, continuous improvement, and operational efficiency. The Operations Director will champion the development of team capabilities across multiple shifts, ensuring that operational business objectives are met effectively. Reporting directly to the VP of Operations, this role requires a strategic mindset and a hands-on approach to leadership. In this capacity, the Operations Director will direct and lead the activities of the planning, manufacturing, and shipping teams. This includes developing an annual operating plan that clearly communicates objectives on both a daily and long-term basis. The Director will implement key performance indicators (KPIs) to enhance visibility into departmental performance, supporting a culture of continuous improvement. Safety, quality, and facility stewardship initiatives will be a primary focus, ensuring that all team members are aligned with these critical areas while striving for improvement. Additionally, the Operations Director will be responsible for managing raw material shortages and improving inventory accuracy through diligent cycle counts and accurate production transactions. Collaboration with the Maintenance team is essential to identify and resolve equipment issues promptly, ensuring operational continuity. The role also involves providing insights into future business growth and potential changes, offering viable alternatives and addressing concerns as they arise. A significant aspect of this role is the people strategy, which includes building frontline capabilities through skill development and cross-training. The Operations Director will lead employee relations conversations, fostering accountability and recognizing successes within the team. Mentoring people leaders and setting clear performance and growth objectives will be crucial to the success of the operations team. From a financial and service perspective, the Operations Director will prioritize production effectively and lead new product launches from an operational standpoint. Monitoring business performance trends will be essential to anticipate and address issues that may compromise customer service and financial goals. The Director will facilitate capacity and labor planning processes to ensure reliable production and shipping plans that meet or exceed established targets. Responsibilities

  • Direct and lead the activities of the planning, manufacturing, and shipping teams.
  • Develop annual operating plan for the manufacturing and shipping team.
  • Communicate all planning, manufacturing, and shipping objectives on a daily and long-term basis.
  • Develop and implement KPIs for department performance to support visibility to performance while supporting the continuous improvement agenda.
  • Lead all safety, quality, and facility stewardship initiatives and ensure team alignment, while targeting improvement in these areas.
  • Report raw material shortages and improve inventory accuracy through cycle counts and proper transactions in BOMs and production transactions.
  • Work closely with the Maintenance team to identify, report, and resolve equipment issues.
  • Provide input into future business growth or major changes, including viable alternatives or concerns.
  • Build frontline capability through skill development and cross-training.
  • Lead employee relations conversations and drive accountability as well as recognition of success.
  • Develop and mentor people leaders while setting clear objectives for both performance and growth.
  • Ensure production is prioritized effectively and lead new product launches from an operational perspective.
  • Monitor trends in business performance and remain agile to successfully anticipate and correct issues that compromise customer service and financial goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering or other related field.
  • 10+ years of experience leading planning, manufacturing and/or shipping teams responsible for meeting customer demand and achieving business objectives.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills.
  • Experience with ERP systems with a strong working knowledge of MRP processing logic.
  • Knowledge and demonstrated ability in the use of Microsoft Office products including Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Access.
